THREE hundred jobs for security guards have been secured by the International Labour Agency for Ugandans. The agency is one of the 10 licensed labour exporting firms in the country.
At a press conference, the managing director, Allan Mwambu, revealed that the recruits would earn $1,100(sh1.9m) monthly for a start.
“The jobs will be on a six-month renewable contract once a worker performs to satisfaction. There are also benefits like medical care, accommodation, food, a one-month annual holiday once a person’s contract is renewed and a possible opportunity for further studies in the Middle East,†Mwambu elaborated.
Before departure, Mwambu said the migrant workers would do a two-week External Employment Security Course. He said they would be supervised by the foreign employment company’s coordinator.
“The course has components like general health evaluation, basic first aid, rules of engagement, standing order and radio communication,†he said.
