The newly-appointed director of Immigration in the Ministry of Internal Affairs and also patron of Ndere Troupe, Augustine Ruzindana, must have been surprised, like many others who knew the group’s strength in music and dance.
After crediting the group with contributing to the culture of this country, what was witnessed had more than cultural connotations.
This time, Rwangyezi has had a go at politics. But it still remains only a drop in the ocean with just a scene of a plenary session in a parliament, where selfishness overrules the common man’s cause. That our ‘demise’ should not be blamed only on politicians, but each individual in the social fabric, is Rwangyezi’s motive. Why doesn’t everyone contribute to our growth with the full energy?
With the relentless and vibrant Winkle Rutamirika in the central role as the boss of the Banergie Factory and pride the whole country, this play ends up less emotional, but still compassionate because it sticks to the rationale than unfounded actions.
That is why the madness of the central character will not drive you mad, but rather into consciousness of your surroundings.
The level of audience involvement is very high. Some of the actors do not even appear on stage and those who react on instinct are likely to shout at some of the characters.
