KAMPALA Amateur Volleyball Club has returned Dick Muhwezi and Rahma Masagazi as president and deputy respectively for another two year term.
The duo becomes the first in history of the oldest volleyball club in Uganda to lead KAVC under the title president as amended on Sunday.
Muhwezi polled 18 votes to beat Alice Okecho – two votes and Harriet Tukahirwa – five. Emmanuel Were stood down for Muhwezi.
Rahma Masagazi was returned unopposed when her challengers Sophie Nanyonga, Paul Ssengooba and Hilda Sekabira dramatically stood down.
Uganda Volleyball Federation technical director Eddie Okila presided over the elections at Lugogo indoor stadium.
Club secretary Mofaht Masaba also returned unopposed when Alex Nduhukire quit the race.
Irene Kuloba was returned women’s manager, while Hilda Sekabira was voted unopposed to replace Lillian Mpabulungi as player representative.
Bob Mutebi is the men’s players’ representative while Amon Ainebyona got 10 votes to beat Crispus Omuut for the post of player representative to the executive replacing Tony Lakony. Muhwezi, in his maiden speech, pledged to continue from where he had left with even greater strides.
