THE National Forestry Authority (NFA) has auctioned 244 lots of impounded timber worth sh16.5m.
The 34th auction was conducted at the NFA offices at Nakawa near Bugolobi in Kampala on Tuesday.

Mahogany, kirundu and musizi were some of the species sold, Paul Lunakwita, the NFA supervisor, said.

Lunakwita added that NFA’s daily direct sale of its own milled timber was still on at their premises.

“Those interested in first-class timber of any size can always pop in at the yard from Monday to Friday during working hours,” he advised.

“The quality of auctioned timber is not always guaranteed as the culprits cut it hurriedly, causing damages which is not the case with our own timber.”
