Irish university honours Ugandan

THE Joint Clinical Research Center director, Prof. Peter Ndimbirwe Mugyenyi (left), has been honoured by the University of Dublin in Ireland for his efforts in the struggle against HIV/AIDS.

According to a press release from the college, Mugyenyi emerged as a leading figure in African medical studies over the last two decades and has led research into various infectious diseases and their prevention.

It read: “He has been a driving force in the innovative campaign to halt the spread of HIV/AIDS in Uganda, and has helped to disseminate Uganda’s experience elsewhere in Africa.

Trinity College Dublin is Ireland’s most distinguished university.
Dr. Mary Robinson, former President of Ireland, and the chancellor, handed over the prestigious award to Mugyenyi recently.
