UGANDA Rugby Union officials have their eyes firmly set on South Africa for a new coach for the national team.

According to sources, union chairman Andrew Owiny has sought the assistance of the South African rugby governing body to secure a replacement for Chester Williams.

“Currently the union can not afford a foreign coach and the best we can do is to talk to South Africa properly so that they again help fund one for us,” the source said.

Williams quit his job after the national squad failed to qualify for the penultimate stage of the 2007 World Cup qualifiers. He moved to Pumas in Johannesburg.
Uganda is set to engage in over eight international meets this season.
