IT is difficult to escape Ngoni. Having recently launched their debut CD, Nasiima Gwe, plus one collaborative single Black, Yellow, Red with Richard Kaweesa, this duo shows no sign of slowing down.
And why should they when they still churn out great music? This is what patrons who turned up for their show at Club Rouge last Friday night found out.
Being the night’s headliners, this duo, that comprises Pato and Aydee, showed off their latest impressive single, Mimi na Wewe. It might have brought nothing very new in the Club, but it proved an instant appeal to the crowd, who cheered all through. And this was the very first time the Ngoni were performing this song.
The audience that filled the nightclub to capacity was a healthy one. It included uptowners, downtowners and students. But they all had one thing in common — they were ardent fans of Ngoni! From the time the boys stepped on stage shortly after midnight, everyone was in a buoyant mood till about 3:00am. The Ngoni did a couple of songs from their debut hit, Digi, to their latest, Mimi na Wewe.
