According to the report, abuse in form of forced sex is rampant and men also fondle the breasts and bums of their housegirls.
A consultant social worker, Dauda Waiswa, unveiled the research findings to district officials at Mwana Highway Hotel in Iganga town on Tuesday.
“We reached out to 636 domestic workers in Kampala, Iganga, Mbarara and Lira district. At least 75% of the respondents were females,†Waiswa disclosed.
He explained that 48% of the respondents started working while they were minors and their male bosses defiled them.
“In Iganga, housegirls are used as sex objects. They are poorly paid and fed. No wonder, 66.7% of them had no knowledge about human rights.â€
Chief administrative officer Nelson Kirenda urged the Government to strengthen labour laws.
