It has now become a big concern for technology manufacturers that whichever product hits the market, it should be able to encompass style, entertainment and business.

One of the latest items on the shelf to match the afore-mentioned three key features is the Sony CLIE PEG-TJ27. It is combined with newly boosted memory, keeps performance relatively fast and is slightly bigger than its predecessor, Sony Clie TJ25. The updated version is slim and sleek. It has a holders pack, battery charging system and an orientation DVD. Its high-resolution screen delivers a sharp, crisp view and captures the tinnest details.
It comes with 32MB of random access memory and 16MB of read only memory.

For photos, one has to expand the storage space with a media slot. Along with standard memory sticks, it holds a lot of high-resolution photos and audio. Indoor shots come out clear and well lit.

Its integrated camera provides a high pixel resolution. White balance and brightness settings let you adjust for indoor and outdoor scenes and can also give your pictures a black-and-white or sepia effect.
For business purposes, it has the date book, which enables one plan their day ahead with constant reminders when set, a to-do-list, calculator, an address book (for phones and emails) and a Hot Sync facility for synchronising data with your personal computer.

For the battery tests, the lithium-ion cell is impressive. It lasts four hours, 48 minutes and will need a recharge after 10 days of normal use.

But with the aforementioned features embedded in the Sony CLIE PEG-TJ27, it disappoints to discover that though Sony made hardware improvements, its software is slightly unsatisfactory.
You get the usual personal information management applications, but Sony stuck with the old address book and date book instead of upgrading to contacts and calendar, which sync better with Microsoft Outlook and have enhanced features. It has no MP3 player and the video clips run without audio.

If you want these features in a Sony CLIE, take a look at the PEG-TJ37, which supports MP3 playback, QuickTime and Wi-Fi networking.
