Kiprop romps to victory

ISAAC Kiprop lived up to his pre-race billing when he romped to victory in the third edition of the Bukwo Road Race here yesterday.

ISAAC Kiprop lived up to his pre-race billing when he romped to victory in the third edition of the Bukwo Road Race here yesterday.

Kiprop, the outright race favourite, completed the 10km race in a time of 30 minutes, 54.09 seconds ahead of Steven Kiprotich in second place. Long-distance big guns Moses Aliwa and James Kibet fell below their usual standards, finishing in third and fourth respectively.

In the women’s 5km category, Mercy Chelangat claimed victory in a time of 18 minutes, 21.09 seconds, ahead of Dorcus Chesang and Rebecca Chepsenga.

Over 200 runners participated in the event that was watched by Canadian sponsor Karl Keirstead. “I’m excited by the quality of running,” he said.
