<b>President hosts archbishop</b> <br>KAMPALA - President Yoweri Museveni on Saturday met the new Archbishop of Kampala, Cyprian Kizito Lwanga, who called on him at Speke Resort, Munyonyo.

KAMPALA - President Yoweri Museveni on Saturday met the new Archbishop of Kampala, Cyprian Kizito Lwanga, who called on him at Speke Resort, Munyonyo. Lwanga was accompanied by his predecessor, Cardinal Emmanuel Wamala. The President and his visitors discussed a wide range of issues pertaining to closer cooperation in development programmes between the Government and the Church. Internal Affairs minister Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda attended the meeting.

Elders plead for Katuramu

KAMPALA - About 20 elders from Toro Kingdom have petitioned President Yoweri Museveni to pardon John Sanyu Katuramu. In a letter dated January 27, the elders said development had stagnated in the kingdom since the former Toro premier was sentenced to death for murder. The High Court convicted Katuramu for murdering Toro Prince Happy Kijanangoma in 1999.

LC5 denies forgery claims

ARUA - LC5 chief Richard Andama Ferua has dismissed reports that he had been in hiding to avoid arrest for allegedly forging a Makerere university degree transcript. Making his first public appearance on Friday after a long absence, Ferua said reports of his impending arrest were “propaganda” by his political foes. “The state has never looked for me. There is no cause for worry and alarm.” He was speaking during the 21st NRM anniversary celebrations at Arua Police grounds. Court recently summoned Ferua to answer charges for allegedly forging a Bachelor of Arts degree certificate of Makerere University.

Woman sues hubby on rape
NAIROBI - A Kenyan mother of three caused drama on Friday when she appealed to court to have her husband for 24 years stopped from entering her home and demanding sex. The woman told Lady Justice Kalpana Rawaal that two of her children were born out of rape. The most recent “rape” occurred on Friday last week when the man burst into her house after the children had left for school. The case that could break new ground on marital disputes in Kenya, was classified as urgent.

Historicals need respect - RDC

RUKUNGIRI - They may be out of the party, but they deserve respect. This is the appeal the resident district commissioner, Charles Byabakama, made as far as treatment of NRM historicals who are in the opposition are concerned. He noted that despite being opposed to the Government now, they had contributed in the liberation struggle and ought to be treated well. Byabakama was speaking during the 21st NRA/NRM anniversary celebrations at the Rukungiri council stadium on Friday.

No federo hope - Lukyamuzi

KAMPALA - One man who has lost hope in Buganda ever attaining a federal status is John Ken Lukyamuzi. The Conservative party leader said: “Since the Luweero days, Museveni has promised the Baganda a federal system of government. But 21 years after, he has not fulfilled his promise. Every time Museveni tells us to wait. Wait till when?” He was addressing people at Kazinga, Bweyogerere on Friday.
