INTERNATIONAL preacher and television evangelist, Dr. Morris Cerullo, is expected in Uganda tomorrow. Cerullo, 75, will hold a leadership conference christened Fresh Fire Believers’ Rally at the Miracle Centre Cathedral starting 4:00pm tomorrow.

Miracle Centre’s Pastor Robert Kayanja believes that Cerullo’s anointing service will take Christians to amazing spiritual levels, as it will recreate the atmosphere of the ancient church.
“It is a three-part mission to discover the same power that the early church experienced. We want to go beyond blessings into the realm of power,” stated Kayanja.

All Christian communities and their leaders should not miss out. According to Pastor Arthur Nsamba, Cerullo, “a mighty man of God”, who has preached since the age of 19, is in the process of handing over something special to Christians.

Since he started preaching as a 19-year-old under his World Evangelism Ministries, Cerullo has healed and preached to millions across the globe through television and crusades in over 140 countries.

“He (Cerullo) now feels that it is time to pass on the mantle. It will be the only conference so it is important that preachers and believers attend,” advised Nsamba.

Cerullo, who is on a four-nation trip in Africa, has made Uganda his first stop. This not being his first visit either, Cerullo probably has a strong conviction that some of the people he can pass his spiritual mantle to, might just be in this country. His last visit to Uganda was in 1993, when he preached in a crusade at Makerere University’s Freedom Square.

His journey into Christian spirituality has been one remarkable story, which has left critics doubting his calling and believers faithful to his Christian principles.

Cerullo was born in New York and was the fifth child of a Jewish family. At a very young age, his mother passed away. His father then decided to place him in an Orthodox orphanage.

At the age of 14, one of the staff in the orphanage converted Cerullo to Christianity. Soon after, Cerullo’s faith took him to unbelievable places. According to his website, www.mcwe.com, he experienced an unusual divine calling; he was led from the orphanage at an early age by heavenly messengers.

“Two angelic beings transported him to Heaven, where he met God face to face and was told he would be able to foretell the future,” Cerullo’s website reveals.

From then on, he lived a spiritually anointed life. By 15, he was a preacher, but was not to be ordained until he had turned 19. That chapter in his life fronted him as perhaps the youngest person ever ordained by the Assemblies of God.

His consequent evangelical campaigns saw him establish the Morris Cerullo World Evangelism and Jewish World Outreach, with the World Outreach, particularly concerned with evangelising other Jews. He has a TV programme, Victory with Morris Cerullo.
The Inspiration Network, owned by his son, provides diverse inspirational programming, featuring programmes from more than 20 denominations.

In his work as a missionary, Cerullo travels extensively.

His international crusades have taken him to countries like Mexico, Brazil, India, Phillipines, Korea, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Kenya, Nigeria, Indonesia and the Netherlands where large crowds have witnessed miraculous healing.

Prior to his appearance, during his crusades in London, posters depicted abandoned crutches and wheelchairs.
But typical of established American preachers in his category, the likes of Benny Hinn, Creflo Dollar and Robb Thompson, Cerullo has not been spared from the cutting edge of public criticism.

He has particularly been criticised for the manner and style of his fundraising and his luxurious lifestyle.

He owns a sky limousine and a Gulf stream G4 (with a gold plated interior) estimated to be worth $50m.
He has had three similar private jets.

Although his financial affairs have made him controversial, he has followers worldwide and regularly preaches to congregations of tens of thousands.

He has travelled with a team of preachers and his wife, Theresa, with whom they have been married for over 50 years.
