Jamwa is NSSF’s new managing director

THIRTY-SIX-YEAR old David Chandi Jamwa is the National Social Security Fund’s (NSSF) new managing director.
Jamwa, a former partner with PricewaterhouseCoopers took office on February 2 after being appointed by the finance minister, Dr. Ezra Suruma.

He edged out Charles Ocici, the chief executive officer of Enterprise Uganda.

Other contenders for the job were Dr. William Muhairwe, the managing director of the National Water and Sewerage Corporation and Richard Byarugaba, the managing director of Nile Bank.

Jamwa’s deputy is former minister Prof. Mondo Kagonyera, Olive Lumonya, the fund’s public relations executive, said.

The post fell vacant in September 2005 following the dismissal of former managing director, Leonard Mpuuma, to pave way for investigations into the botched sh4b Nsimbe housing estates project.

Jamwa has a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from Makerere University and is a certified public accountant of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) and ICPA Uganda.

He has worked with PwC for 13 years. Before the NSSF appointment, Jamwa was a managing director at D. Craven Consulting.
