High power costs will not deter district authorities from installing security lights in the town in preparation for the commonwealth Heads of government meeting (CHOGM) in November. The mayor, Johnson Muyanja Senyonga, said Umeme’s high power costs had frustrated their efforts but the Japanese government had pledged financial support towards maintaining security lights in the town for five years. He was addressing a council budget conference.

Needy children get school fees

Two needy children will be the lucky beneficiaries of bursaries from Nabbunga Fountains of Education Primary School in Kalisizo, founded by Brig. Elly Kayanja. The headmaster, Steven Semutono, on Tuesday said school offered sh1.5m to Buganda government’s education department, adding that the pupils would be chosen by the Mengo government.

Schools rapped over religion
