NTV to come back on air
KAMPALA-Nation Television (NTV) will be back on air as soon as the Broadcasting Council sorts out some technical issues. Kirunda Kivejinja, the information and national guidance minister, made the promise yesterday in Parliament while responding to queries by Henry Banyenzaki (Rubanda). He alleged that political interference and corruption were the reasons for the television’s closure. Kivejinja explained that there was a problem that necessitated switching off the NTV transmitter and that negotiations to solve the problem were underway. NTV had installed a 400kg antenna on the tip of the UBC mast in Kololo Hill, which is reportedly imposing a dangerous burden on the 45-year-old mast.
