Sexual exploitation plagues many families and children are the unfortunate victims. An experience of this nature damages your sense of self-worth. It makes you feel dirty, used and worthless.

This feeling results into self -hatred, shame and low self-esteem that might paralyse your relationships in future. No amount of money matches the value of a human being. If the circumstances are beyond your control, use the following tips to cope:
- Go for HIV testing as soon as possible. Knowing your HIV status will help you take charge of your life.

- Undergo serious counselling from a professional counsellor. Get in touch with Hope After Rape, Kamwokya. They provide counselling services to victims of rape. The counsellor should help you deal with the trauma, low self- esteem, guilt and bitterness (against the rapist or anybody who trapped you into it). This would also help you improve your attitude towards men and learn forgiveness.

- You need a social support network. Get actively involved in a youth group or church activity to help you feel socially accepted and connected. What happens to you does not make you into who you are. You can be helped to rebuild your life afresh.
