PATRICK Luboyera, a Ugandan pastor based in Denmark, yesterday accused city businessman Frank Gashumba of forgery and obtaining money by false pretence.

Luboyera told the court in Nakawa that Gashumba offered to clear his vehicle, a Toyota Lexus worth sh70m with Uganda Revenue Authority at a cost of sh8m.

He claimed that he paid sh6m in advance but was surprised when Gashumba altered the logbook to read like it was a Toyota corona. The total taxes for a Corona is sh3.8m.

He also accused Gashumba of demanding for sh40,000 to process a tax identification number yet it is a free service.

However, Godfrey Rwarinda, Gashumba’s lawyer, accused the pastor of altering the documents in order to evade taxes.

Gashumba is the guardian of Aisha Nabukeera, the girl who was allegedly burnt by her stepmother in Masaka recently.

Deo Nizeyimana, the magistrate, adjourned the case to April 11.
