Ugandans must be basking in the glory of being part of the Oscar award-winning movie The Last King of Scotland. But of them all, it is Ndere Troupe’s Sam Okello who is laughing all the way to the bank.

When Forest Whitaker visited Okello’s Hope North Uganda School in Masindi to deliver scholastic material sponsored by Celtel Uganda and dfcu, last week, the two made a bet: If Whitaker won the Oscar award for Best Actor, he would triple the $20,000 (sh35m) he donated to the school and return to the school sooner than later. If our mathematics serves us right, Okello stands to get $60,000 (sh105m), after the latter won the award on Sunday. Meanwhile, actor Abbey Mukiibi has already received sh1m from the Golden Drama Foundation for his efforts in the movie.
