He was introduced to the parents of Busiro East MP Susan Nakawuki last Saturday. The glamourous kwanjula (introduction) ceremony Democratic Change top brass took place at her father Henry Kasirye’s home at Nakabago village near Mukono town.

Now new shocking details about Emmanuel Matovu, Nakawuki’s intended, have emerged. Evidently, Matovu, a businessman, is still married to Maureen Namawejje, 25, of Muyenga, Kampala.

The two, according to Namawejje, met while Namawejje was still a student at Makerere University and got married a-year-and-a-half later.

To be exact, according to their marriage certificate, the wedding was on December 13, 2003 at Namirembe Diocese, Church of Uganda. The certificate was signed by Namirembe Diocese Bishop Balagadde Sekadde.

Namawejje, who has a two-andhalf- year-old son, Matthew Emma Matovu, with Matovu says the two went separate ways in 2005, following domestic unrest coupled with her suspicions that Matovu was adulterous.

Namawejje, who now stays with her parents in Muyenga, claims that since July 14 last year (on her son’s birthday), Matovu has not been forthcoming in terms of his son’s alimony. She claims all his school dues and hospital bills have been footed by her parents.

Namawejje adds that she learnt that Matovu was living with another woman, (Nakawuki). Namawejje has been “pestering” him to grant her divorce, but he has been non-committal.

Namawejje says she wants Matovu to finalise their divorce and set her free since it is clear he is moving on with his life. She also wants a written commitment from Matovu to take care of her son. Hmm!
