Upon the death of his father three years ago, Julius Kateregga, left with a financially incapacitated mother, dropped out of school and envisaged a future as a successful fisherman in the islands of Ssi, Bukunja in Mukono District, his home area.

Later, a guardian, Jane Baseke offered to pay his fees at Nile High School. She was to pay for only one year as the boy’s brilliance earned him a bursary. Three years on, he plans to be the “lawyer of the fishermen” in his area.

Kateregga got A A A B and credit 4 in History Economics, Divinity, Luganda and general paper, Kateregga is the toast of the privately owned school in Mukono.

“He is a very brilliant boy. As management, we delayed advertising the school on television or radio under the illusion that students’ exceptional performance will do it for us one day. Kateregga has done it for us; many more are yet to come,” said Dodoviko Kisembo the school headmaster.
