Augustine Nsumba’s brace kept the Jogoos in contention for the Super League soccer title at Namboole yesterday.

After a wasteful first half that saw Villa’s Jeremiah Sebuyira, Henry Kisekka and Caesar Sempijja miss countless scoring chances, Nsumba found the target on 54 minutes.

Nsumba beat two defenders to shoot past Simba custodian Benjamin Ekusai for the opener.

The pint-sized striker returned to haunt the soldiers on 78 minutes when he tore apart the defence and looped advancing Ekusai.

Villa assistant coach Ibrahim Kirya was excited with the victory.

“Simba has always been a difficult team for us to beat. I am extremely happy with the result,” Kirya said.

At Nakivubo Stadium, Alex Katete sparkled with a brace as Bunamwaya upset Victors 3-0. Katete struck twice before Peter Makanga sealed Victors’ fate.

Meanwhile, Police’s unbeaten home record this season faces severe test from a frustrated Kinyara. Kinyara has slowly slipped in the title race.
