Help, I have piles

Dear Doctor,
I have piles which are in an advanced stage. They pain after toilet and the swellings come outside. Is there any permanent treatment? Tablets and creams have not helped.
BW

Dear BW,

Piles or haemorrhoids are dilated veins, swollen because the blood cannot move well through them. They are located at the anus.
Piles are usually painless. The swelling may be inconvenient and recurring, but usually nothing is done about them. Treatment is necessary when symptoms like bleeding and pain due to infection or blood clotting occur. In this case, tablets or creams are given. You may also want treatment when the size is inconvenient.
To cure them completely, an operation is necessary. Unfortunately, they may recur, necessitating operating again. Measures to prevent constipation and ensure soft stools can help with the symptoms.

My candida recurs
Dear Doctor,
For more than a year, I have had recurrent candida. I have used lots of drugs and it goes for a while, but then returns. It is very uncomfortable. Will I lose my fertility?
Yvonne

Dear Yvonne,

candida is a fungus which normally lives on our skins, for both the man and the woman. It only causes problems when it overgrows. This happens frequently in women, giving symptoms of vaginal itch with a discharge that is like sour milk.
Candida is easily treated with tablets or creams. Nevertheless, the treatment does not remove it from the skin completely. It can recur, going with more treatment.
A few people have recurrent candida. Conditions like HIV, diabetes and pregnancy can cause this.
The doctor will look for the reason why the candida is overgrowing so frequently. Control of that condition will cause the candida to go down.
Talk to your doctor who will get a solution to control the fungus.

Am I normal?
Dear Doctor,
Sometimes I feel weak even when I have not done anything. Other times I do heavy work, but do not feel tired at all. Sometimes I feel uneasy as if life is not mine or like I am going to fall sick, but recover quickly. Sometimes I get difficulty in breathing and I have on and off chest pain. More so, my libido is very low. Is it a problem to do with the functioning of my heart? I am very worried.
Martin

Dear Martin,

It seems you are describing normal day-to-day life!
Sometimes we all feel low and other times, we feel high, with various pains and aches which may not be serious.
However, it is important to know that some problems do not appear with severe or sudden symptoms. It is advisable to see a doctor for a medical check-up at least once a year to make sure you are in good health. This will also assure you that the aches and pains are not serious. Discuss these symptoms with a doctor to make sure everything is okay.
