SOCCER governing body FUFA will spend sh53m in air-tickets for professional players for the Nations Cup qualifier against Nigeria and the Olympic match against South Africa.<br>

SOCCER governing body FUFA will spend sh53m in air-tickets for professional players for the Nations Cup qualifier against Nigeria and the Olympic match against South Africa.
The federation’s Chief Executive Charles Masembe said yesterday that tickets for 11 Cranes and Kobs players had been dispatched.
All the players are expected in the country to start training on March 18.
Cranes play Nigeria in their Africa Nations Cup qualifier away while the Kobs host Amaglug-glug of South Africa in a Beijing Olympic qualifier at Nakivubo.
The professionals called are Onyango, Timothy Batabaire, Ibrahim Sekagya, David Obua, Nestroy Kizito, Vincent Kayizzi, Alimansi Kadogo, Hassan Mubiru, Hannington Kalyesubula, Geoffrey Sserunkuuma, Eugene Ssepuuya, Geoffrey Massa and Hassan Wasswa.
Meanwhile, state minister for sports Charles Bakkabulindi has in a March 5 letter ordered Mandela National Stadium management to allow the national soccer teams to train for free.
He also ordered that charges on Police and Sports Club Villa who had withdrawn from the stadium as their home grounds and fees for athletics and school teams be lowered.
“It’s a sports stadium and we have to utilise it,†the minister charged.
Namboole recently started charging sh0.18m for clubs to host games at the stadium and sh30000 for training sessions. Training sessions had earlier been free.
Athletics has also been hit by huge stadium fees.
