SUNDAY Vision will this weekend launch a new entertaining and educative cartoon strip, Little Village.
The first strip of the colourful and captivating cartoon will run this Sunday, the editor, David Mukholi, said.
Little Village is an imaginary village inhabited by animals, which interact with the world around them as they learn new things, Mukholi revealed.
The cartoon will be in the main newspaper instead of Sunday Magazine where previous cartoons have been running, he explained.
The cartoon is meant for children aged 10 and below, who have not been catered for in the newspaper, he added. The deputy editor-in-chief of The New Vision, Barbara Kaija, said children would understand and enjoy the cartoon whether they can read or not.
“This is a cartoon of international standard but with a local appeal. The stories in the cartoon cover universal issues and are told in a simple way. Each story is told in a funny and engaging way with characters that keep the children yearning for more.â€
Health and the environment are among the topics that the strip will cover.
Little Village is not just for children but good for adults as well, Kaija said.
“Cartoons are not meant for people of a certain age. Apparently this one is also good for adults as it brings out the child in them.â€
The two newspapers also publish other cartoon strips: Mickey Mouse, Modesty Blaise, Spiderman and Dennis the Menace.
