Why do we watch our country go to the dogs?

SIR — Any sane mind in this country will agree with me that the current state of affairs is really deplorable. Just look around.

The economy is down, education (though for all) has lost its value as examination malpractices take root. On the social scene everything smells of corruption! What should we do to save ourselves from this disgrace? Reading the newspapers these days, one develops a feeling that nothing good will come of this once peaceful country.

How come the Peoples Redemption Army (PRA) suspects were ‘recharged’ even after court had bailed them out? Wasn’t that pure injustice or rape of justice like one judge recently stated?

strikes have become the order of the day. From teachers, doctors, lecturers, university students and now judges, everything has all turned upside down!

These people strike but the government merely looks on. The irony of this situation is we are going to host peaceful nations for the Commonwealth meeting in November.

How will the Queen and her delegates perceive us when we are now behaving like ill-brought up children? We are very selfish, unreasonable and hypocritical.

We are setting a bad precedent for future generations. Why should we let our country go to the dogs?
