KAMPALA - The process of finding an anthem for the East African Community is winding up. Six songs in English and Swahili, composed in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania, will be presented to the three East African Heads of State for review this month.

They were selected from more than 100 entries, said James Wasula, who is involved in the process. He said the songs will be sung before the Uganda Parliament next week so it can make its choice. Some radio stations have been chosen to play the songs to enable the public to vote by calling in or via SMS.

Each country will select three songs from which the heads of state will pick the best three at an extra-ordinary meeting slated for April 20 in Arusha, Tanzania.
