FOUR men suspected to be Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) collaborators were yesterday charged with treason and remanded in Luzira prison.

Ismail Kajubi, Muzamiru Bogere alias Philip, Fred Baguma alias Mudathir and Abdulsalam Sekayanja were charged at Buganda Road Court.

Magistrate Stella Amabilis did not allow them to enter a plea saying: “You are advised not to plead to this charge and you can only apply for bail in the High Court because this court has no jurisdiction over this case.”

Prosecution led by Emmanuel Ojambo said the suspects, between 2003 and 2006 in the districts of Kasese, Kabarole, Mubende, Mityana, Kyenjojo, Kabale, Kampala and other places in Uganda, contrived a plot to overthrow the Government.

He added that the suspects expressed support for the ADF rebels by conducting recruitment, mobilising logistical support such as mobile phones, food and medical services, as well as giving them intelligence information.

He claimed that the suspects knew of a plot to overthrow the Government but did not inform the Attorney General or the police.

Ojambo said investigations were still going on. The suspects were remanded until March 27. They appeared in court without lawyers, who went on strike on Monday.
