Electric cables stolen <br>JINJA <br>Over 4,000 metres of wire belonging to the Uganda Electricity Transmission Company Ltd. was stolen last week in Kamuli and Bugiri districts.

Over 4,000 metres of wire belonging to the Uganda Electricity Transmission Company Ltd. was stolen last week in Kamuli and Bugiri districts. The Umeme deputy public relations officer, Edward Twine, said 2000 metres of conductors were stolen at Kiko on the Jinja- Kamuli main power line in Kamuli district on Sunday night. He added that another 2,000 metres were stolen from at Busowa and Ndifakulya areas on the Iganga- Bugiri main power line in Bugiri district. The theft has affected power supply in Kamuli and Bugiri hospitals.Okello urged the public to report suspects to the Police.

Police seizes motorcycles
IGANGA
THE Police in Iganga district on Tuesday impounded 30 bodabodas ( motorcycles) from various stages for lack of permits. “Some lacked number plates and others were overloaded,” the traffic Police chief, Francis Okello said. He added that three suspects were taken to court and sentensed to three months in prison and fined sh350,000.
