LOCAL amateur boxing federation president Roger Ddungu has staked $300 (sh0.54m) for each boxer who will win gold at the Zone V championships in Egypt next month.

The team that started residential training on Monday will also be visited by a nutritionist to keep close watch on their food consumption. In effect, all fried foodstuffs have been banned in the camp.

Ddungu, who also announced training allowances for the team, warned the boxers and technical team against indiscipline. He said that he will not hesitate to throw out any, however good he is.

“We will not tolerate indiscipline in the camp. Let us know what we are targeting and go for it. I came to effect positive change and I will only stay with those who have the same idea,” Ddungu told the coaches and players on Monday.
He added: “This is the basis of any good performance.”

Twenty-two boxers are in training and will be trimmed to 11 after the final trial on April 1.
