THE Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health, Muhammad Kezaala, has asked Parliament to investigate a case in which two ministers and other politicians are implicated in grabbing Kitgum Hospital land.

He made the request yesterday after Kitgum LC5 chairman John Komakech told MPs on the Public Accounts Committee of allegations that several politicians, including agriculture minister, Hilary Onek and foreign affairs state minister Okello Oryem, were allocated eight plots of hospital land by the district council in 2004 without the knowledge of the ministry.

Komakech also named the town clerk, Albert Ochen, the district land board chairman, Mark Okeny and the resident district commissioner, Norman Ojwe.

He added that the issue was forwarded to the lands state minister, Atwooki Kasirivu.

“We have stopped the developments because we want the land back. The hospital wants to use the land for expansion.

These people were given land without the approval of the hospital,” Komakech asserted.

The ministers could not be reached for comment.

Health chief Dr. Sam zaramba said he had directed district health units to survey their land and get title deeds.
