KITGUM Diocese has called off disciplinary action against the three priests it suspended early this year.

In what is seen as a move to promote forgiveness in the church, the diocese announced in a letter by the diocesan secretary, the Rev Wilson Kitara last week that Bishop Benjamin Ojwang lifted the suspension which barred the clergies from performing their duties.

They are former diocesan secretary, the Rev. William Oketa, the headteacher of Archbishop Janani Lowum Memorial College, Rev. John Ochola Olara and the Curate of Kitgum Town Parish Church, the Rev. George Okwera.

The three were reportedly suspended for involving themselves in the activities of an illegal organisation called Concerned Christians, that was said to be operating outside the established organs of the diocese.

The organisation was aimed at causing rebellion against the diocese.

The rifts, which emerged last year, are said to have divided christians.
