SOFTWARE giant Microsoft has released the latest versions of its flagship solutions on the Ugandan market. The versions include Microsoft Office 2007, Windows Vista and Windows Exchange.
“From today, business and home-users will have access to what we consider the best looking, more secure and most user friendly versions of our software,†Louis Otieno, the director of the enterprise group of Microsoft, said during the launch at the Kampala Serena Hotel.
The operating system, which a computer needs to work is known as Windows Vista and the applications that many home and businesspeople use to do their work like Word, Excel, PowerPoint and others are collectively known as Office 2007.
“Windows Vista and Office 2007 redefine what it means to use a computer. They are more powerful, their many functions are easier to use and e-mail, Internet, word processing, spread sheets and other programmes work more closely together than ever before,†Otieno explained.
He said users can now easily search for information regardless of the location. “For business users, the new office experience will increase productivity,†he explained.
“For those that manage the businesses, there are other applications, such as Exchange Server2007, that make e-mail, electronic calendars and other kinds of messaging even easier to use. Security is also paramount. Exchange works to protect the company from potential external threats,†Otieno said.
