Mitala was right on false prophets!

SIR — I wish to comment on William Matovus’s letter published on march 18 denouncing Alex Mitala as unfit to be the chairman of the national fellowship of Born-again Pentecostal Churches.

SIR — I wish to comment on William Matovus’s letter published on march 18 denouncing Alex Mitala as unfit to be the chairman of the national fellowship of Born-again Pentecostal Churches.

The reasons matovu gave was Mitala’s revelation in a Sunday Vision interview in which Mitala warned people to watch out for false prophets and pastors who ask people for money in exchange for prayers. It is surprising that matovu denies the fact that false prophets in Uganda demand money from people. He argues that these people own churches and have to pay for electricity and other utilities.

No one owns a church except Jesus Christ! Besides, there are genuine pastors who incur all these expenses but don’t demand money from their congregation. In Matthew 10:8 the bible says: “freely you have received, freely give”.

Even Jesus warned his followers to watch out for false prophets. Mitala is an anointed man with a clean record and was called by God to do what he is doing.
