EXPRESS FC continued to struggle in the Super League with Masindi stealing a draw against them.

Gideon Sekamwa and Henry Segguya netted for the home team while Boban Tusubira and Badru Kiyega saved the visitors yesterday.

At Nakivubo, Victors beat army side Simba. Veteran Paul Mukatabala scored the lone goal.

Action returns to Nakivubo today for the visit of Heroes. After a sweet 1-0 home victory over Jackson Mayanja’s KCC, Heroes are looking forward to engaging Villa.

“Our victories over Masaka and later KCC FC have given us the stamina of rising from a position of hopelessness to more victories,” Heroes coach Jimmy Muguwa said.

Elsewhere, Kinyara host strugglers Express.

* In a bid to salvage some pride in a season already gone wrong, members of the Express FC corporate club will convene at Club Volts tonight to plan the club’s survival.

The evening will also be open to all Red Eagles fans, an offer every Thursday by Volts management.

* The soccer governing body FUFA will starting this year directly supervise the recruitment and fitness tests of all referees.

Referees will only receive licenses after a year’s probation, not after a one week course as has been the case, FUFA publicist Rogers Mulindwa announced at the weekly Front Page Micro Finance press conference at Mengo.

Referee examinations were initially the responsibility of the refereeing commissioners.

Meanwhile FUFA boss Lawrence Mulindwa has kicked off a national soccer team fundraising campaign with a sh1m offer.

FUFA hopes to raise sh100m from corporates and individuals to help in Cranes preparations for the Nigeria game on June 2.

Deposits should be made on account number 2215100375 at Centenary Bank’s corporate branch on Amber House.
