KASESE - The Police in the district are probing three people in connection with the murder of a 2-year-old girl. Charles Olinga, the investigations chief, said the suspects were arrested in Kitanda village and among them was Regina Kabugho, the child’s step-mother. Olinga said the corpse was discovered buried with its head facing down. He said it could have been an act of sacrifice.

Engineer arrested

KYENJOJO - Franklyn Katusiime, a district council engineer, has been remanded in Katojo Prison over charges of embezzling sh5m and selling water pipes. He was picked by an officer of the IGG’s office and produced before the Fort Portal chief magistrate, Londo Obbo. The magistrate remanded him, explaining that only the High Court could hear his case since it was of a capital nature and consider his bail application. He will re-appear in court on May 4.
