Buhweju badly needs a district status!

SIR — I would like to comment on Maj. Gen. Kahinda Otafiire’s speech at ruhinda s.s during the celebrations of the youth, women and the disabled on April 13. I think President Museveni did not make a right choice when he appointed otafiire a minister.

How can Otafiire make such baseless claims about Bushenyi when it is so obvious that the district should be divided up. first of all it is among the largest districts in uganda.
Secondly, counties like igara, ruhinda and sheema do not know why buhweju and bunyaruguru are asking for a district! it is because they are getting the services Bushenyi offers adequately but buhweju is among the most remote places in uganda due to lack of services. in fact, mbarara is more useful to the people of Buhweju than bushenyi is.
So when Mr bikwasizehi asks for a district status for Buhweju and Otafiire tells him about Amanya mushega, kabwegyere and nduhuura i don’t understand the minister at all! What we need is what brings development to our beloved county Buhweju.
Buhweju has always benefited little in every innovation brought to the district because most of the beneficiaries are Igara, ruhinda and sheema.
The richest places with gold have been forgotten and have no roads. There are several tourist attractions in Buhweju but how will the tourists go there? Otafiire’s attitude is partly to blame for Buhweju’s under-development.
