Celtel Uganda’s latest Quiz Game Show, dubbed ‘Celtel Africa Challenge’ that is conducted among universities in East Africa aims at improving students’ knowledge on various subjects within a recreational setting.

With a selection of four students per university, the quiz which is aired live on UBC Television every Sunday at 7:00pm under the theme, ‘Take on Da Challenge and win hundreds of great prizes’ asks questions from categories like general knowledge, history, geography, science, sports and true-or-false.

And with Celtel officials banked at the Ugandan university being quizzed on that day, a mock debate is also held, in a bid to tickle more information from the students of that university.

Having kicked off with Moi University against Ndejje University, the former won the quiz, this, however, did not despair the morale, if anything performances from the musical acts of the night made up for the loss.

On Easter Sunday, the Africa Challenge between Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) and Kenyatta University of Kenya, battled it out leaving the latter with the last laugh.

To support MUST, the Celtel team held a lively show at university’s main hall. The Kenyatta University students beat Mbarara University.

‘Take on Da Challenge’ is a grueling quiz game show that has become more interesting, it started in March and it will end in June, 2007.

Students from 16 universities in East Africa are in the competition. It is screened every Sunday at 7:30pm on UBC TV and Sanyu Fm daily. Not only university students test their knowledge, but they also get freebies.

At Islamic University In Uganda (IUIU), the battle was between IUIU students against Egerton University students of Kenya.
