UGANDANS should form joint ventures with Indonesians, Abid Alam, the honorary consul, has advised.

“Indonesia is the source of many types of goods that come into the country through intermediate places like Dubai and Singapore. Many of these are high-quality and cheap goods. Ugandans can get them from the source,” he said during the three-day Indonesian business and tourism exposition at the Garden City shopping centre in Kampala.

“Uganda has agro-products like cotton and tobacco, which can be processed further,” Alam said.

He said some Indonesian businesspeople were already doing business in Uganda after last year’s trade fair at the Uganda Manufacturers Association showgrounds.

Catur Hadianto, who represented the Indonesian ambassador, said the country has many world-class tourist attractions and entrepreneurs.

There was a video show of Indonesia at the exposition.
