Besigye, Ssebaana style up!

SIR — I was not happy to see Dr. Kizza Besigye and Mr Ssebaana Kizito physically confronting police officers near Christ the King Church and shouting at the top of their voices, during the Mabira Forest demonstration in the city. At one time Besigye confronted a police officer and shouted: You are serving a criminal Government and you will suffer as an individual when we come to power.” The officer was calm and polite in his response.

It made a difference! All this was live on WBS TV, and probably many other TV stations. For a political leader aspiring to be the next President of Uganda, that kind of behaviour is demeaning, especially on the street! Some personal dignity should be reserved by our leaders, otherwise they run the risk of losing would-be political supporters. It is not necessary for Ssebaana and Besigye to be on the streets in running battles with the police. There are better alternatives to effectively engage the Government.

I admire Mzee Bidandi Ssali who speaks out on national issues whenever it is really necessary. He is well reserved and postulates a character of a national leader. He is a good example for our leaders to learn from.

Please help us as voters to judge you from positive political programmes. Critical voters analyse national issues that help them choose leaders.
