ST. Noa Mawaggali Busuubizi Core Primary Teachers’ College in Mityana district has received an administration block, laboratory, library, tutor’s quarters and a dining hall at an estimated cost of sh386m.

The facilities, constructed by Interbuild Contractors Ltd and funded by the Government, were on Friday commissioned by Francis Lubanga, the permanent secretary in the education ministry. Lubanga warned the teachers against drunkenness and smoking.

He said when the Government reduced the number of teacher colleges from 95 to 45 in the 2003/ 2004 financial year, it increased the number of school infrastructure.

“We have provided all the libraries and laboratories with equipments, which is in line with the Government’s plan of promoting science subjects,” Lubanga said.

He promised the teachers that they would rehabilitate the old structures and also recycle water to deal with the water crisis.

“The ministry officials I travelled with will budget for all the items you have told me about.”

An official, Josephine Lubwana, had earlier told the gathering thathe old structures were in a poor shape.
“We are still needy in a number of areas. For example, the buildings that were constructed in 1939 require a facelift,” she said.

The Bishop of Mityana Diocese, Anthony Zziwa, advised the teachers to maintain the structures.
