THE widow of Maj. Gen. David Oyite Ojok, the former army Chief of Staff in the Obote 2 Government was laid to rest at Alidi ‘A’ village in Loro sub-county.

THE widow of Maj. Gen. David Oyite Ojok, the former army Chief of Staff in the Obote 2 Government was laid to rest at Alidi ‘A’ village in Loro sub-county.

Rebecca Oyite who died on April 17 at the Uganda Heart Institute, Mulago Hospital, was buried on Monday in the same house where her husband was laid to rest.

Rebecca, a trained nurse was survived by four children. She was also among the best farmers in Apac and she won a tractor awarded by President Yoweri Museveni.

Representing the Government at the burial, Lands, Housing and Urban Development Minister, Daniel Omara Atubo, delivered sh20m which Museveni promised the family.

Atubo said the deceased was a courageous and successful farmer who did not beg the Government when she returned from exile.

The Uganda People’s Congress party President, Miria Obote, described Rebecca as a pillar of strength not only in her family but for all Ugandans.
“We lost her at the time we needed her. The role she played was not for her family only but for our nation.”
