SIR — I totally agree with Fabulous Akandwanaho’s observation that Buhweju has been left behind by Bushenyi. It is like Karamoja has been left behind by Uganda. However, let me also add that Ruhinda has not fared any better than Buhweju.

Like Buhweju, there are no tarmac roads there. But let me also point out that Akandwanaho is also as selfish maj. Gen Kahinda Otafiire. In terms of priority, and basing on population sizes, in allocating a district status, Ruhinda would come first.
This is because it is the constituency with the largest population in Uganda. If in doubt, check election records. Granting Ruhinda a district status, would divide it into two electoral constituencies
(which it deserves) but this would divide Otafiire’s supporters, with the majority going to Kabira and Mitooma subcounties where he would not be eligible to contest.
He would be forced to stand in his subcounty where he was roundly beaten in the last election!
So you can’t give a district status to Buhweju and deny it to Ruhinda which suffers the same problems as Buhweju.
I will not be surprised that rich and powerful counties like Sheema and Igara will get district status sooner than Buhweju!
But for Ruhinda, as long as Kahinda Otafiire is still the only bull in the kraal, forget about getting a district status.
Even the fact that ‘Kahinda’ rhymes with ‘Ruhinda’ he will do as he wants as if it is his kibanja!
