How can professionals behave in such an unprofessional manner?

SIR — I appeal to the midwives of Mengo Hospital to handle mothers in labour with care and professionalism. my elder sister had a miscarriage, and was admitted to Mpereza Labour ward.
The doctor sent me out to pick drugs from a pharmacy but to my disappointment, he did not use them.

He carried out an ovacuation on my sister without administering the drugs to help prevent the pain. the nurses could not even provide a wheel chair to help us move her to the ward. we picked it ourselves and pushed her there.

Two months after, i went to the same hospital to deliver my second baby but after delivery, the midwife inserted cotton wool in my vagina to block the blood from interrupting the stitching process. She left the cotton there and I developed complications after four days that necessitated an ovucuation before i had healed from the birth fatigue! after two months, my younger sister went for delivery but spent four full days in pain.

They put her on drip to induce contractions but in vain. our mother asked the doctors to take her for an operation but the doctor replied rudely that he did not take orders from patients. thanks to Sr. Zziwa who came and asked them whether they knew what they were supposed to do. She said: “You are going to kill the woman’s daughter yet it is simple to see that she has failed to give birth normally.”

She ordered the midwives to prepare and take her to the theatre where she was operated on. I had never thought that medical personnel could be so careless! I thought they were trained to save lives.
