CHILDREN, what did you do for your mothers on Mothers’ Day?Mothers’ Day is a day dedicated to all mothers in the world. On this day, mothers are made to feel special by their children.

Gilbert Ssettuma, a six-year-old pupil of Buyala Junior School in Masaka, on Sunday hosted his mother, Caroline Musoke, to a Mothers’ Day dinner at Hotel Africana in Kampala.

The New Vision organised this special dinner for Gilbert and his mother. Gilbert was one of the lucky winners in the Children’s Vision Mothers’ Day poetry competition. He wrote a poem dedicated to his mother.

In the poem, Gilbert thanked his mother for buying him toys, cakes, taking care of him, paying for him school fees and laying for him his bed.

On Mothers’ Day, Gilbert mopped his mother’s bedroom and watered her flowers just to make her feel special.

During the dinner, Gilbert hugged his mother and also gave her a beautiful card. His mother was served food like rice, chicken, matooke, meat, soda and juice.

Gilbert’s mother was very happy because it was her first time at Hotel Africana. She thanked his son for giving her such a wonderful gift. Gilbert promised to give her a ‘big bom lollipop’.

Gilbert likes reading and playing football. At his school, Gilbert is the class monitor. He also reads news at the school assembly.

When he grows up, Gilbert wants to be a doctor and at the same time, a priest. His favourite subjects are science and Religious Education (RE).

At Hotel Africana, Gilbert liked the swimming pool. He had a great time and thanked The New Vision for the day special for him and his mother.
