Pastor Isaac Ogwal has two churches, one on 121 Craymond Road in London and another one called Holy Power Centre Church in Kisugu, where he performs healing miracles. He has been married to Christine for three years. Pidson Kareire talked to them about their relationship
Some people say pastors use witchcraft to make miracles. Did you apply that to get Christine?
No one can use the power of the Holy Spirit with witchcraft. Yes, you can be bad, but God can change and use you as a vessel.
So, did you use the power of the Holy Spirit to get Christine?
No. You see, pastors suffer a lot when looking for wives; this is because they always want a wife from God, not just a woman. Secondly, it is very hard for pastors to pray for themselves. They get other pastors to pray for them. It is Pastor Joseph Sserwadda of Victory Church, who prays for me.
Was it Pastor Sserwadda’s prayers that led her to you?
No. It was a process; I spent sometime praying hard for my ministry and for a woman from God, who could stand my weak points. The first time I saw Christine; she was not easy to approach. One day, when I went to my pastor, he told me that the girl I was dreaming about daily was in God’s plan and that I would
be accepted. I later approached her and things worked out.
What do you do to show her love and respect?
You saw me opening the door for her. Isn’t that respect? By the way, I do it so often and I cannot sit before she gets a seat. I even report to her all the women who try to seduce me.
What would you do if you got her with another man?
Pastor Sserwada taught us to pray before handling any trouble and to speak out our hearts so that we leave no gap for the devil. That is exactly what we do. But if something like that happened, I would know the devil has attacked us. I would seek counselling and advice. I believe nothing can separate us because she is from God.
What do you love most about her?
I love the way her mother brought her up. She always kneels when serving or welcoming me home, but I am shy about it.
You are a Muganda, while Pastor Ogwal is a Langi; don’t you ever conflict about … say food?
No. I have never found any problem, maybe because he grew up in Buganda. He likes Kalo (millet bread) and I like matooke, but I always cook a variety of foods.
Did you marry him for money?
No. I am not materialistic. I am a true Christian who religiously follows the scriptures. The Bible says a man should provide for his wife and the wife should in turn submit to her husband. This is what I do.
What exactly did you look for in Isaac?
The Bible says that the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom. If someone really follows in God’s ways, he or she rarely goes astray. That is why I looked for a God-fearing husband.
How did you know he is God-fearing?
A man who fears and respects God is easy to notice. For instance, when meeting for the first time, you will notice how many times he mentions His name and if he gets something to eat or drink, he will thank God before eating. Anyway, I first saw Isaac in church and it took us time before we discussed marriage.
Did you have boyfriends before Isaac?
Just friends, but you see, men are sometimes funny. He befriends you for wrong intentions, so when you discover his wrong intentions, you fall out.
Has it ever occurred to you that even pastors can be tempted to cheat on their wives?
Man is prone to temptation, but when you get saved, you believe and indeed, I believe that everything is possible with God. He is spiritually strong. If I think of it without any cause, it is sin. Why should I pollute my mind when the man is clean?
What would you do if you got him with another woman?
I will not even assume; he cannot. But I do not think that can separate us. Maybe because of that, we would come out stronger and pray for each other to remain focused.
How does it feel to be a wife of a pastor?
Pastors respect their spouses and have special love. In fact, pastors have genuine love. They are not shy to talk about their love and are willing to show it in public. I must say it is good to be a wife of a pastor.
What happens when you annoy each other?
We pray and by the time we finish, the anger is no more. Extreme anger is a sin, therefore, as Christians, we never allow such a sin to be part of our lifestyle.
