DIEBOLD, a US firm, has launched Opteva, a new brand of Automated Teller Machines (ATMs), in the Ugandan market.
DIEBOLD, a leader in the ATM sale, manufacture, installation and maintenance, is represented in over 100 countries.
The company has promised unbeatable quality. Piett Cooreman, the distributor area manager, said at the launch at the Kampala Serena Hotel: “We know that there are many ATMs on the Ugandan market but is one ATM the same as the other?â€
He explained that Opteva ATMs are more sophisticated features than what is available on the market.
Cooreman said Opteva ATMs will avail users with only clean money as they have been equipped with the technology to detect and retract dirty notes.
The ATMs have also been fitted with security features to detect a stranger using someone’s ATM card.
The machines also operate for 24 hours without going off.
They will be supplied and maintained by Copycat (U) Ltd, DIEBOLD’s local distributors.
Anindya Mitra, the Copycat’s head of information and technology, said their targeted users are banks and micro-finance institutions.
