THE newly-elected Pallisa LC5 chairman, Bantalib Issa Taligola, has failed to form an executive committee. A meeting to approve the nominees to the committee was on Tuesday adjourned after they were rejected.

Taligola said the meeting would reconvene in two weeks.

The councillor for Kakoro sub-county, Christopher Onono, had been nominated vice-chairperson, while Nicholas Osako from Agule sub-county, the secretary for technical services.

Other nominees were the councillor for Kibuku, Mary Okimat, for the post of secretary for social services, while youth councillor, Paul Muloni, was proposed for the post of secretary for production.

Taligola said some of the councillors could have been influenced to reject the nominees.

“I am informed that some Members of Parliament got councillors and transported them to Tororo where they stayed over-night.”

NRM district chairman Sulaiman Mujumbi, said the failure to form a government would leave the district behind in development.

“How does he expect to lead when he cannot form a government?”
Taligola contested as an independent candidate for district chairperson after winning an election petition against the NRM candidate, Bob Wasugirya.
