BUGIRI deputy resident district commissioner, Isaac Lulaba Wangwe recently tied the knot with his long time friend, Victoria Bagaya. Rt. Rev. Samwiri Wabulakha of Mbale, presided over the ceremony at St. Andrew’s Cathedral, Mbale.
The Lulabas, both teachers, later hosted their guests to a reception at the Resort Hotel Annex. The inlaws, who travelled from Fort Portal, were, however, thrown into laughter when a representative of the groom’s family welcomed Victoria to the clan of the “Bamulyanyuma.†In Rutooro, ‘Bamulyanyuma’ means homosexuals.
“I want to take this opportunity to welcome Victoria to our clan, the ‘Bamulyanyuma’ (laughter), which is a peaceful clan and I believe you will enjoy the atmosphere in Bamasa land,†C.K. Khauka said.
During her speech, Victoria broke down as she thanked her mother-in-law and namesake, Victoria Wangwe, for having tolerated her.
“I beg for forgiveness for any wrong I did,†Victoria said, amidst sobs, before her husband pulled her away.
