Erik van Veen, the chief commercial officer, said customers will be able to browse the Internet, send and receive e-mails, download information, access multi-media services and use streaming services in a cost-effective way.
“MTN broadband is available in three different bundles to ensure that different customer needs are catered for,†he said.
For sh115,000, customers can access the 200MB bundle, while medium users will pay sh220,000 for a 500MB bundle. The heavy users can access the 1GB bundle at sh 395,000.
With the 200MB, you can send over 67,000 e-mails, download 6,700 documents and 780 images, while with the 500MB, a customer can send or receive 67,000 e-mails, download 70,000 word documents and 2,000 images.
The service, which was unveiled during a press conference at the Sheraton Kampala Hotel on June 6, is powered by the Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX) technology.
