THE National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) is to start instant billing, the managing director, Dr. William Muhairwe, has said.

Under the system, households will immediately know the amount of water they consumed the previous month.

Muhairwe said this during the closure of a capacity-building workshop for Dar es Salaam Water and Sewerage Corporation staff in Bugolobi, Kampala.

“The consumer is the reason we exist, so we want make sure that they are satisfied with our services. The equipment will improve accuracy,” he explained.

Regional cooperation state minister, Isaac Musumba, lauded NWSC for establishing a training department, saying it will promote regional cooperation.

“The Government has learnt that this is not the first training you have carried out. It is part of a series of capacity-building workshops you have held for local and international participants,” Musumba said.

“I am sure the training sessions have a double edge benefit in such a way that as you train others you also benefit from them, thereby building more skills through an integrated learning process,” he added.

The minister noted that the corporation’s activities were in line with the East African Community’s human development strategy, which aims at developing centres of excellence at different institutions.

“What NWSC is currently doing here attest to their contribution towards government’s noble and justified vision of an integrated EAC,” Musumba added.
